My reason for purchasing this lock, was that the old lock was jamming in damp weather, and I was locked out several times. I had the old lock apart, so I know what was inside, and the amount of wear in the steel components of the old lock astonished me. This lock is far better made - and the areas which might wear the most are more robust. The lock was deeper and so required a little work to fit - but was better for it. The deadbolt is more secure, due to the inclusion of a hardened steel roller, that rotates if an attempt is made to hacksaw through it, thus preventing the progress of the blade.
It is simply a case of you get what you pay for - only in this case, I feel I got a little bit more for my money than similar products.

Having checked with all the other suppliers of door locks which meet the the requirements as laid down by most of insurance companies i purchased a yale 5 lever mortice lock from my local homebase store in oban. The price was very competive and the quality of the product is first class, I have already recommended this product to my neighbour who to the best of my knowledge has also purchased the same lock. thanks
