I have used qualcast products over 40 years of gardening but this is by some margin the worst I have ever bought. The rear wheels are small and cheap and being hollow instantly fill with debris rendering them unable to rotate. Hence you are forced to use a great deal of effort to move the machine along. The cheap plastic frame drags on the grass and adds to the problem. Fortunately the motor burned out on the second use and so I was able to return for a refund. Second time around bought the flymo product which is infinitely better.

Just bought one of these- no instructions in box - good thing I've got the internet and a high IQ.
As this is my first (and possibly last ) Qualcast product, not a good start. Created an account on Homebase's website just so I could leave this review - had to edit my account to disable the inevitable updates that occur as default - no chance: The webpage just went back to the update page again!
Printed the manual off so I could at least change the blade cartridge.....Tried undoing the Allan Key screw (which only one end of the supplied key seems to fit properly!) but this didn't seem to release the cartridge....

Used the raker for the first time today (not used the scarifier yet).
The grass box falls off so I ended up using it without it, and raking up the debris with a plastic lawn rake.
The screw holding one of the handles to the body doesn't stay on because the hole on the handle has been overdrilled. I've replaced it with a woodscrew and will need to put some dowelling up the handle to screw it into (the vibrations shake it out anyway otherwise).
However, as I got a very good discount because of a damaged box in a sale, I'm prepared to try to live with it for now.
You need to be careful to keep it moving or it can scalp the lawn where it halts.
It has done a pretty efficient job at removing quite a lot of the moss.
If you have a query, don't phone the Qualcast support line given in the instructions; they aren't interested at all as it's merely their name being used under franchise by Homebase. They just tell you to return the product to the store. Wish I'd known that before I spent a long time on a non-free number.

The machine does a great job at removing the moss from my lawn with no struggle at all, its easy to change from raker to scarfier by just removing 1 screw and changing them over. The only drawback with this product is that the collecter box is far too small for the amount of output, as i did about 20 metres then it was full, however there is an easy way to get round this by just leaving it off then collecting it up with the mower afterwards which can do it all in one. Im really glad i got this machine. :)

The machine in itself does what itsays on the box and does it well. The drawbacks from my perspective are that,
a) The collection system is substandard in that it is totally inadequate, it needs a far bigger collection box, as the one supplied is unable to deal with the scarifier output.
b) There is nothing on the box which identifies the fact that the machine needs partially dismantling and reassembling to change from scarifier to raker.
If I had realised it's shortcomings I would not have purchased

Absolutely horrendous product. On assembly, the holes in the handles did not line up.
The fold-down connection had two different hole sizes, so the bolt would not go through.
The so-called collection box throws out more debris than it collects.
The cable between the main body & the handles is too short, had to cut & re-wire.
Have had to completely re-drill all the holes and try & re-set the collection box.
Still a useless product.
Leave it in the shop.!!!!!!!!!
